Ngintip is one of the primary pieces in a remarkable collection by this artist. As with ‘Pertiwi‘ the Nyoman Handi’s’ unique style layers painting and fuses images with the driftwood pieces assembled into an artwork that breathes its character with the aged wood surface as its canvas. Voyeur.. The movement of time that each generation sees through what is happening at that time. With the passage of time, there is something that happens in daily activities. The movement of natural time is the instant the smoke tree is cut down, with the person cutting the tree. There is a tree symbol that has people behind it trying to tell how to communicate this to the next generation. In a short sense they say this is progress, but what actually happens to nature is destruction, there is no recovery. Dulang which is usually used for offerings is considered as an industry that instead of offering it commercially. There have been a lot of talks but not a lot of meaningful action or effort. There are many sensational promotions about the environment and sustainability but the efforts are not real.

The upper left cloud is a symbol of the rainy season which is no longer stable, due to nature’s anger. What they see now and what is happening now, In the end, every generation will repeat the example they saw. The symbol is like a lower part of the gamelan with the intention that what is left behind is music and art, but that is just a story, and the real things it tells are lost.

In this artwork, Handi concludes that we need to start education at the community level, anything that is directly relevant can be loved, that way we will not go too far. Then take action that is real and relevant in everyday life.
