‘Offering’ (Persembahan) by Kaprus Jaya, 2010.
Offering, ‘Persembahan’ I enjoy making offerings ‘sesajen’. I find that the placement of the flowers and the harmony between the different colours amongst flowers and fruits , I find it peaceful. I have felt this way from my childhood. When I see this I feel comfortable and secure. Clear. Even though in the composition of Balinese offerings is sometimes busy and colourful, it can ignite a feeling of calm and full of clarity.
In this painting, I was not painting the subject. I was looking at specific visual elements that I would notice within offering. The circles and lines. The repetitions and patterns. I was playing with these elements inside this composition. It merged with my feelings about it. The colours and textures is probably my feelings through this process.
