David Hopkins is a collage artist, designer and DJ based in Marbella Andalucia, Spain. Born and raised in a multicultural neighbourhood in Newport, South Wales, David developed a passion for music and art from a young age. Influenced by vibrant street art, the underground music scene and the diverse cultural landscape of his surroundings.
Collage layouts and graphic design are what he lives and works for. This is his world, and it has always been a part of his life.

David and Collage Art
David’s collage works are characterised by their bold colours, intricate layering, and eclectic mix of characters. He draws inspiration from his urban musical environment, incorporating graffiti, vintage advertisements, and urban decay elements into his compositions. David’s compositions often feature real figures, architectural elements, and abstract motifs, inviting viewers to decipher hidden narratives and explore the juxtaposition of disparate elements.
Always Creating
David’s collage works are a fusion of vintage charm and modern sensibility. He is known for his eclectic style, blending elements of surrealism, pop art, and street culture into his compositions. David’s art often features whimsical characters, bold typography, and intricate layering of found imagery and textures.
David’s visual aesthetic is bold and vibrant, reflecting the artist’s energy. He is constantly creating, and responding to everyday experiences. An acute observer of details in his environment, these details become elements that feed into his vibrant imagination and transfer into his wonderful world of collages.
World Without Sound
In March-April 2023 David Hopkins collaborated for the first time with Sawidji Gallery in World Without Sound Group Exhibition.
David and Adobe Express
Adobe recently hired him to work as a moderator on their latest version of the Adobe Express design tool. Moderating through Facebook Adobe Express Insiders, helping new users and many promising designers, answering comments and showing the latest features of this design tool that allows users to create designs directly on a mobile, with all Adobe design tools.

In the lead-up to the Culmination Exhibition in Santrian Gallery Bali in May 2024 David Hopkins visited Sawidji Studio and Gallery. Thoughts on AI
“You should not have to use a generator to create things. The creative process is for those who understand and still have human intelligence to appreciate the process. Whilst it is useful in some circumstances for some people, just because you can use a machine to create something immediately does not give you the right to put this online for sale as art.”~ David Hopkins
In what way do you see art playing a role in communities and the challenges that face them in the future?
“I’d like to see in communities more interactive art for children. Sparking their enthusiasm to get involved with it. They are so immersed in digital technology that the only way to get them to spend less time on it would be through interactive art. Whether it is interactive digital art or not.
