Description
Sprout of Happiness by Loka Suara
Loka Suara is an Indonesian contemporary visual artist from Bali. He has exhibited since 1993 both nationally and internationally. Through explorations of techniques and visual characteristics. A conceptual thinker, a silent, deep observer of the emotional and psychological currents that ebb and flow through every day. A romantic non-conformist.
The first time we were touched by the depth and warmth of Loka Suara’s insightful peculiarities was when we discussed Shades of Stone and Love. The anecdotal way he shares the inspirations behind each of his works. They are everyday observations. Dry, to some but poignant and humorous at the same time. I suspect there is an absurdist inside the creative process of Loka Suara. But it is subtle and deeply rooted in earth and sky and accepting of all in between..
Cultivating Positivity
This piece explores the theme of resisting negativity. In the background, a flower vase symbolizes the desire for positivity. Inspired by my experiences in Ubud, I observed how conversations often drift toward negativity, prompting the figure to cover his ears. He embodies the struggle to push away harmful thoughts—discussions of conflict, attacks, and accidents—seeking only uplifting messages.
The vase and flowers beside him represent fresh ideas, while his flat-topped head suggests a space to cultivate these positive thoughts. To nurture a flourishing mindset, one must maintain balance and clarity.
