Rejang Dancer 019 , Fine Art Photography Giclee Print by Tjandra Hutama. Part of the ‘Rejang Ageless Impermanence’ series. Rejang is a sacred Balinese dance, a sacrificial dance in which the girls offer themselves to the gods. It is held n the Hindu Temples of Klungkung Regency and Karangasem Regency in Bali, Indonesia. “Rejang” means “offering”. This dance is performed to greet the gods that descend down to the Earth.
Rejang Dancer 019 is part of series ‘Rejang, a Beautiful Reminder of Impermanence” by Tjandra Hutama, the themes of beauty, impermanence and time are explored. Tjandra Hutama has won many awards in countless competitions in photography. It is the saturation of pictorial beauty that he encountered throughout those years that prompted this need to reflect something deeper about our perception of beauty. Of its impermanence and ultimately of its limitations. View complete series in our Artist Featured Collection.
