Natures’ Blossoms Photography by Dewi Dian.
“With our undeniable bond and complex relationship to that of our own visage and that of others, the exploration of portraiture continues. This time moving away from the individuality of self or our own personalities albeit psychologies. Instead we explore the identity of something greater than ourselves.”

One touch of Nature makes the whole world kin.
William Shakespeare
As I work on these series of portraits, I am finding beautiful words of many poets before us that resonate with this same desire. Of painting a picture, of the vastness and greatness of Nature’s power and beauty.
But it is through an imaginary mirror, perhaps wondering what expressions would look back at us if She wore a human expression with all the human emotional qualities.
As I work on these series of portraits, I am finding beautiful words of many poets before us that resonate with this same desire. Of painting a picture, through their words of something that is difficult to express. This deep gruelling, peaceful yet frightening bond we have. Because we are never separate from Her.
Words, like nature, half reveal and half conceal the soul within.
Alfred Lord Tennyson

Natures’ Blossoms the Wisdom of Spring
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
Elizabeth Appell

Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.
Rainer Maria Rilke
For this series in Natures’ Blossoms Rilke’s quote resounds in this image. ‘Spring has returned.. Earth is like a a child that knows poems’. The earth an ancient child with poetic wisdom. Discomfiting, stark and beautiful.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.
Robert Frost
Natures’ Blossoms in the woods
The words of Robert Frost take us into the deep dark woods. Like an enveloping blanket that can drown us in its depths. Yet the woods are beautiful the way the night is beautiful. Its shadows unforgiving as they are revealing.

Adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature’s inexorable imperative.
H.G Wells

The poetry of the earth is never dead.
John Keats
