Description
Dewi Sita and the Deer. Crocodile Wood Sculpture, circa 1991. This depicts Dewi Sita from the Ramayana. At the point in the story, when she and her betrothed King Rama, were hunting in the forest.
There, King Rama left her alone, guarded by a magical boundary to protect her. A golden deer came and tempted Dewi Sita out of her protective boundary and she became vulnerable to the trap set by their enemy.
