Rejang Dancer 005, Fine Art Photography Giclee Print by Tjandra Hutama. Part of the ‘Rejang Ageless Impermanence’ series. Rejang is a sacred Balinese dance, a sacrificial dance in which the girls offer themselves to the gods. It is held n the Hindu Temples of Klungkung Regency and Karangasem Regency in Bali, Indonesia. “Rejang” means “offering”. This dance is performed to greet the gods that descend to the Earth.
Rejang Dancer 005 is part of the series ‘Rejang, Ageless Impermanence’ by Tjandra Hutama, the themes of beauty, impermanence and time are explored. Tjandra Hutama has won many awards in countless competitions in photography. It is the saturation of pictorial beauty that he encountered throughout those years that prompted this need to reflect something deeper about our perception of beauty. About the Artist
Rejang Dancer 005 is a series of digital montage works by Tjandra Hutama. A visual designer, photographer and influencer in Bali’s active photography community. Tjandra Hutama’s contributions to photography since 2010 have earned him the trust to lead Bali Photographers Association for two terms. From 2016 – 2022 and is presently a committee member of FPSI (Federasi Perkumpulan Senifoto Indonesia).
