In The Coconut Tree Art Print, is a print of original Balinese painting by I Dewa Made Bawa. I Dewa Made Bawa is a traditional Balinese painter from Pengosekan Ubud. His paintings range from the classical style of Pengosekan to the more contemporary variant of Flora Fauna.

Although this painting does fall into the Flora Fauna Category of Pengosekan, it is by no means typical of this genre. The artist does not get too close to the subject as is common of Flora Fauna. Also, there are no elaborate lines and decorative foliage which is usually dominant in a composition of Flora Fauna.

In fact in this piece, the focus is a geometrical pattern, a dance by the squirrels and the dubious observation of the Owl. Voyeuristic, if not predatorial. There is a beautiful connectivity in this painting that ties everything together in Nature. There in a circular movement all centred around the coconut tree. The coconut here quite aptly representing ‘Holy Water’ and ‘Life’.
