Very nice art gallery with inspiring artworks from great artists from Bali but also from other artists such as from France or the USA. The location is easy to reach. The owners are very friendly and inspiring. It’s not only a gallery, it’s also a place where Culture events take place. I loved it! Sabrina Teufel Google Reviewer

Five artists exploring the same question in different ways and different media  – painting, photography, sculpture, film, performance –in itself, that’s a strong blueprint for an exhibition. But what took Manus out of the ordinary was the sense that, despite their differences, the artists evolved the concept together, then supported each other and cheered each other on. So the ground and all the work that grew out of it felt stronger, wider, deeper than if the artists had picked a common theme, then gone off to interpret it alone.

In one way or another, everyone was pushing out boundaries. All the work has layers that aren’t immediately obvious, that invite us to spend time thinking about and feeling into them, exploring. During the exhibition, the contrasts and comparisons between them set up dialogues that lured us further in.

Coming back, weeks after the opening, to listen to the artists talk about the work, how it had happened, what their processes were, how they supported each other –  all of that felt extremely valuable. It deepened my experience of the work, made me notice and think about things I hadn’t caught before. I loved how other people brought their perspectives in too through poetry and discussion, and a whole complex conversation evolved.

So far, every Sawidji exhibition I’ve seen has explored new directions, both in terms of the individual work and in the way the artists collaborate. It’s exciting to watch them developing. I’m really looking forward to seeing where they’ll go next.

It was great oppotunity to meet Dian who is an aritist and directly listened the back ground of the exhivison for “Red Chair and the white Room” in the last exhivision day. Also Dian let me shared my impression after quick skimmed the all art work and listened my ridicuious story telling. Then she clairified the intension of exhivison and the symbols of red chiken and withe duck one by one. It was honor to hearing an explanation directly from the artist and Manbutur who is photograher also elaborate the current social issue in Bali and what they contributed to solve the issues as an artists. I was glad not only to enjoy the art work but also to know what Sawidji gallery is doing to help the artists and as well as to strengthen the Bali community and inherit the tradition. I was sincerly touched that Sawidji gallery’s mission is to support local artists, to educate young artists and continued tradition from rapidily changing and commericalized Bali society. I am sure I will definitly visit this gallery again in case of visiting Ubud next time and guaranty that visitors will experince genune Bali.

Discovered this wonderful art gallery on Jl. Cempaka, Mas, Ubud where I met the gallery owner, staff and collaborating artists for the current show, “Red Chair, White Room.” The show is an excellent example of modern visual storytelling via beautiful art photography. There is also a boutique room displaying modern local art, and an opportunity to purchase items with the art printed on them. The gallery provides much intrigue and discovery despite its relatively small space. A treat visit for anyone who appreciates conceptual art and stunning art photography. I have already made a repeat visit.

By chance, I discovered this hidden gem on Jl Cempaka in Mas, Ubud the other day. It is a cooperative gallery and boutique with true community objectives. The show that is being exhibited now is truly a Must See! Unlike any other art show I’ve seen, this show addresses the economic versus spiritual dilemma facing Bali now in hauntingly beautiful photographs and short films. The small boutique has clothes, jewelry, scarves, and sculptures made by the communities’ artists. I highly recommend this gallery.
